Notifications and alerts
When herbe.calendar notifies you, how to configure which notifications you receive, and where they appear.
herbe.calendar sends notifications for events that need your attention — assignments, edits to activities you're watching, upcoming meetings, and booking activity.
What triggers a notification
- An ERP activity is assigned to you (auto-watch is enabled, so you start watching it from that point).
- Someone edits, comments on, or attaches a file to an activity you're watching.
- An event is starting soon (15 minutes before, by default).
- Someone books a slot via a booking link you own.
- A booking is cancelled.
Where notifications appear
In-app inbox — the bell icon (or a red dot on the menu) in the top bar. Click it to see the full notification history. Blue dot = unseen.
iOS push — if you're using the iOS app, push notifications appear as banners. Tapping one deep-links straight to the activity. Urgent notifications (meeting starting) are marked time-sensitive and can break through iOS Focus modes.
Configuring your alerts
Go to Settings → Alerts. Options include:
- Which sources trigger notifications (ERP, Outlook, Google, iOS, Booking)
- Lead time for "event starting soon" (5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 minutes)
- Quiet hours — a time window during which non-urgent notifications are suppressed
- Per-source toggles for comments, edits, and assignments
ERP activity type filter
When ERP is enabled as a source, a second selector appears below it: ERP activity types.
| Option | What fires |
|---|---|
| Planned only (default) | Only planned ERP activities — meetings and events that were scheduled in advance |
| Actual only | Only actual ERP activities — work logged after the fact |
| Both | All ERP activities regardless of planned/actual status |
ERP tasks (todo-type records) are never included in meeting reminders regardless of this setting — the "event starting soon" alert is for calendar events only.
Watching and unwatching activities
When you're assigned to an ERP activity, you're automatically added as a watcher. You can also manually watch any activity by clicking the bell icon in the activity drawer. Watched activities send you notifications for every comment, file, and edit.
To stop receiving notifications for a specific activity, open the drawer and click the bell to unwatch. Unwatching is permanent — auto-watch future syncs won't re-add you to that specific activity.
